Quilts

Quilting is new to me. It's something that I think I could really get into. It feeds my hunger for fabrics, my desire to combine numerous colors and patterns, and my need to have some type of needle craft that is portable. A few weeks ago I decided to come up with something really simple to try out, so I cut up some construction paper and came up with a simplistic design. I figured how much yardage I would need, then the next day I ordered my fabrics. I was so excited about it that I couldn't wait for the fabrics to come in, so I bought a cheap fat quarter bundle to practice on. It came out okay. This is what kept me occupied during the hurricane frenzy. It was nice to have something to do when we didn't have any electricity. I ended up using an old receiving blanket for the middle layer. I still haven't bound it. I guess I'll get around to it. I really don't know what I'm going to do with it. It isn't large enough to be a blanket, so I thought I'd hang it on the nursery wall. I think it will match nicely.

These are the fabrics I ordered for the quilt. I think it will turn out lovely. When I get out of my clothing groove I'll work on this. Rigth now I'm enjoying just looking at the fabrics. I always get nervous cutting into pretty fabrics! I've already told Lily that these fabrics are for her. The quilt will end up being about the size of a throw. Just right for a beginner project.
