turtle
Do you like my turtle? The little turd I made it for doesn't. As I was making it, I told him what I was doing. He seemed quite pleased and said that he wanted it to be a snapping turtle. Okay, so I called it a snapping turtle. When showed him the finished turtle, he had a fit because he didn't like snapping turtles. Okay. I then tried to convince him that it wasn't a snapping turtle because it didn't have any teeth. Do you see any teeth? I didn't think so. Hmph! Hopefully, when he's in a better mood, my temperamental three year old will like his turtle - I sure do!

Oh. Too. Cute. For. Words.
At any rate, since you asked: yes.

Ha ha ha ha ha!!! I'm sorry I'm laughing but it brought back memories of SLAVING over a Power Ranger quilt for my 4 yr old son. I told him that he if he decided two weeks later that he didn't like them that he would get it as a wedding present one day. He's 18 now - I'm looking for a wedding gift box big enough!

Kids!
It is a super turtle!

Oh I have the same conversation regularly with my 5 year old daughter. Just put it aside and see what happens. I , of course, think it's fabulous and just love all the colours.

i feel your pain, beki! you know i do!

I LOVE that turtle! It's freakin' adorble. How can Alex NOT like it? Oh, that's right. He's three. He'll like it. Just give him a day or so.
(I love the orange shirt. I bought a similar one for my baby to applique and haven't yet. I'm now afraid he's gotten too big for it.)

I know exactly how that goes. My little guy (who also just turned 3) is obsessed with what he wears. If it doesn't have Buzz, Woody, Lightning or Shrek forget it. And he can change his mind, just like that. You cant' win.

I LOVE the fabric you used for the turtle shell...too adorable! I hope Alex comes around soon and realizes it's a great shirt! :)
Posted by:Brea | June 25, 2007 at 07:21 AM
That turtle shell fabric is great! I like his button eye, too. When I saw the first few lines of this post in Bloglines, I though it was the curse of the softie again--who knew it applied to t-shirts, too? Thanks for the warning! And I LOVE the shirt.
Posted by:Anamaria | June 25, 2007 at 07:45 AM
yeah, he's definitely a turd, because that is super cool.
Posted by:kirsten | June 25, 2007 at 07:45 AM
Me, too! :0)

That is so cute! I'd love to make those for my little turds, too :-)
Posted by:Lisa Clarke | June 25, 2007 at 08:10 AM
Adorable! Sorry he isn't liking it at the moment, if it would fit me, I'd snag it in an instant!
Posted by:stacy | June 25, 2007 at 08:14 AM
That is such a great story, I love your turtle. You should try throwing in a book from the library about a turtle at bedtime and see if his tune changes!
Posted by:Renee | June 25, 2007 at 08:38 AM
haha, I can only imagine that coversation. But I do love the turtle!

I love it! My three year old had a fit yesterday because of a shirt I picked out for him to wear that he apparently did not want to wear.

Posted by:brit | June 25, 2007 at 01:52 PM
well, i love your turtle.
Posted by:capello | June 25, 2007 at 02:05 PM
I LOVE the turtle! Just tell him that you made it for his best friend or cousin and that he absolutely CAN'T have it, then see what happens. I just slaved over a black cape for my son so that he could dress up and now he has informed me that it doesn't have the proper wand pocket for him to be Harry Potter and that it would really be better if it had sleeves too. UGH!
Posted by:Kim | June 25, 2007 at 02:12 PM
The turtle is wonderful. Your post made me smile -- I feel like I have this kind of conversation often. Just the other day, Owen insisted on having some pineapple. As soon as I cut it and gave it to him, he told me pineapple was yucky and refused to touch it.
Posted by:Erin | June 25, 2007 at 02:25 PM
so cute! unbelievable!
Posted by:Cici | June 25, 2007 at 02:44 PM
I love that turtle... Simon wouldn't wear a tiger shirt that he had, he said it scared him. One day I managed to put it on without him noticing it and now he's ok with it... I hope Alex turns round too!
Posted by:Mirre | June 25, 2007 at 03:42 PM
i sure like it too...i think i would like one for myself to heck with the kids....LOL....
Posted by:Greta | June 25, 2007 at 03:52 PM
I'm sure snapping turtles will come back into fashion very soon. :) I hope so!
Posted by:amy h | June 25, 2007 at 04:11 PM
I love it!! and I love the story. Kids are so fickle and soooo honest.
Posted by:Dee Light | June 25, 2007 at 04:33 PM
You can't see his teeth because he is buy chomping up a finger from a little kid who tried to poke him LOL I like your turtle :)
Posted by:Felicia | June 25, 2007 at 06:38 PM
that is so cute! Maybe Ava will be a turtle lover. My son loved his sumo shirt from Japan at first...then he didn't want to wear it 'cause sumo's show their butt. this is the same boy that goes to pee in the front yard.
Posted by:dee | June 25, 2007 at 07:35 PM
That is really cute and I bet your son will look adorable in it. He'll come around.
