something pretty
Isn't this sweet? Last week I made this little "pillowcase" style dress for my friend Erica's baby girl, Kate. Erica picked out the fabric and ribbon, I just did the sewing. It's amazing how something so simple can turn out so lovely. If I weren't afraid of my new-to-me serger I could have finished it in no time, but I chose to do french seams instead. The inside is as lovely as the outside. I love that! I'm quite certain there will be more of these in my future. I could use them to practice my serging (when I decide to take it out of the box).
Thank you all for your nice comments and words of encouragement on my previous post. I promise I wasn't fishing for comments or compliments, I was just being honest. These are the thoughts that run through my head, along with a lot of other stuff. I'm moving on now, just getting it out there is therapeutic for me.

Ohhh, this is beee-u-tiful! I love this ! I think I will make one for my friend's new baby!! Gorgeous!

Lovely! It's almost too cute to wear...
And once you take your serger out of the box you'll never go back. I love mine!

That's just beautiful! Great Job! I know what you mean about the serger... I didn't use mine for about 2 years. Then one day I opened the book, threaded the machine and off I went. You'll use yours when you're ready.

Very sweet dress! French seams? I am new to sewing and I've heard of the serger (don't have one), but I have never heard of french seams. I will have to look them up!

That pink ribbon is just to fantastic. And french seams really do it for me.

That is so beautiful, you are right-simple yet beautiful!! Do you think a girl could talk you into doing a tutorial on French seams? I have read how to do them but, I admit, I need a visual.

My SIL just sent me a Martha Stewart article on making pillowcase dresses. I think she wants me to have a go at it for my two nieces!

What are french seams? They invented more than fries, toast and kisses?
I love this dress! Pillowcase dresses are so cute and this just screams summer!

This is so sweet! I bought a new serger about a month ago, and I haven't taken it out of the box! I had one awhile ago, and threading it stressed me out so much that I haven't had the nerve to try again. LOL! I'll have to work up the nerve soon!

How lovely! I love french seams, but never have the patience for them, so I end up just serging. For a little girl, french seams are just perfect though.

So. Dang. Cute. Every time I see one of those sweet style of dresses I sorta, kinda (just a wee little bit) want to have another just so I can dress them in a wardrobe of those.
Seriously, I really love the color of ribbon that you chose to go with the pretty eyelet fabric. :)

I love it Beki. The white eyelet material and pink bow is so refreshing.

I just love this dress! It's so pretty. And I totally understand the serger apprehension. I bought one when I was in school as a necessity, and haven't used it since. It came unthreaded at one point...and the instructions don't make sense to me. Oh well!

I love this dress! I have one similar to this for my little girl and I get tons of compliments on it every time she wears it.

I can't believe I am not the only one who has had a serger for over a year now and still not totally figured it out. At least mine is out of the box and on my sewing table, but it's only collecting dust LOL.
This little dress is adorable :)

I've made a pillowcase dress for Ibby as well, these seem to be very popular in the south :)..speaking of south, hope all hurricanes stay far away from our region!
