studio spruce up

Stu_table_skirt
After seeing these curtains at the Cottage Living Idea House I  knew exactly how I wanted to use this "idea".  I've been wanting a skirt for my work table since I put it up to hide all the junk underneath, but nothing ever struck my fancy.  This was the perfect solution.  Boy, was this ever easy!

I pretty much copied the Idea Home curtains.  I used two yards of craft felt in the 72" width (which was 25% off at Hobby Lobby).   I cut it  with pinking sheers, threaded cheap yarn along the bottom edge, then attached it to my table top with thumb tacks.  I then covered the top edge (and all the thumb tacks) with a piece of green gingham ribbon.  Isn't it cute?  I couldn't be more pleased.

After that was complete my ugly gray office chair stuck out like a sore thumb.  What was I to do other than cover it?  This was yet another project on my to-do list that I never got around to.  I wish I had attempted this sooner because it literally took me an hour to complete.  What a difference a cutesy fabric makes!

Ahhh, I'm loving my spruced up space!

Oh, I'm so jealous. It looks beautiful. My "studio" is the dining room table.

That's a great idea! I'm gonna use it for my own curtains if you don't mind! :-)

Oh wow, your studio looks fabulous.

Sewing room envy is huge here! I'm a dining room table girl too. Your spruce up is beautiful but just having your own playroom - wow!!

super cute!!! i love the curtin/table skirt idea!!!!

So cute!! Great idea.

What a terrific makeover! That table skirt is such fun and really cheers your room. Your chair is fantastic. I've had my office chair on the re-do list for a while...Seeing your lovely one had me inspired to get out there and look for fabric! Thanks for sharing a peek of your pretty work room. Happy Day :o)

I love how they turned out! The first thing I noticed was that great chair cover. And I love the idea for the table skirt.

I second the sewing room envy! It looks lovely! How nice to have a space of your own :)

I really liked the chair cover. Would you consider a tutorial? I have been wanting to cover mine for a while now but not sure where to start.

Great idea, very nice. Love your studio.

i just love that chair!

love the chair cover! so much better....and the table skirt is great as well. nice studio spruce up.

Well done Beki!! your studio looks fab!

oooh, that's so cute! I may have to borrow that skirt idea and I've been meaning to cover my (also)gray chair for some time. I think you have inspired me to get off my slacker butt and do it!

That looks great! I love your studio. I can't wait til I have one to start decorating. I second the idea for a chair covering tutorial! I have a cheap pleather one that has developed a huge hole in the seat.

Very cute - I love what you did with the chair. I've been wanting to do that too, but thought it would be too hard. Can you elaborate on how you did it?

I love your chair! Anna has the same chair in her room. Maybe you can spruce it up for me.

How easy is that??? Looks good, Beki!

Congrats Beki! It looks fantastic!

Would you mind coming over to take a crack at my (completely cluttered) creative space? Yours looks great!

That chair definitely screams HAPPY! Nice job!

I LOVE that chair! Your whole studio looks great. What did you do to the chair? I have one that I'd love to cover, too.

Love what you did to your table. My sewing table has been staring at me with all the junk under it. Thanks for sharing your idea.

sewing room envy here as well...my machine was in the basement of this 1900 house. Eeewe ... can you say spiders? Although I did spider bomb...so it shouldn't be that bad.
Love the room...
Paula

I love it all! I've thought about making skirts for my tables too, but since they butt up against the wall it's just not practical. The chair is absolutely lovely! I've been looking for an office chair but they're all so ugly. Now I know that can be fixed.
Thank you!

Wow it looks so great! And you redid your banner to match. I am so inspired to clean up my "back room" as we call it.

Wow! The table and chair look so cute. What great ideas!

Very cute!

I love it

Oh it looks great!!! I can't wait until we move to a new house (sometime next year). With a baby on the way my work space is down to a tiny corner!!!

I just love the skirt. It is always nice to have a place for storage that is out of sight.

Ohhhhh how I love studio pictures!!!

Love it!! and the new banner (sorry if it's been up a while...the hazard of bloglines)

whoa, mama! your room is rockin'!

I'm loving it too Beki!

That looks so great! The chair transformation is amazing! I have a couple chairs the boys use when doing schoolwork that I really need to do that to- minus the flowers, of course.
Did you sew elastic to some pieces of fabric to slip over the chair or.....?

I have had plans to recover my office chair once my room is redone. I am in the process on the room and was hoping it would be easy to recover the chair. So glad to see it is.

Your room looks great!

What great ideas! I love the chair cover.

How nice - it's always better to work in an inspiring space!

Looks great! I am planning a skirt for my table, but never thought about using thumbtacks...duh!

Perfectly adorable! I've been thinking of some chair cushions for my crafty room, so I think you've just inspired me. Thanks!

OH MY!! I NEED TO COVER MINE TOO! It looks terrible...how did you do it?

Your sewing area looks so cherry and bright!!! I have been meaning to cover up my table as well, thanks for the inspiration!!!

Oh, I love it! I'm totally doing this under my kitchen sink!

cuteness!

This is fabulous, what a clever girl you are...

Very thrifty work, and so cute.
