studio spruce up
After seeing these curtains at the Cottage Living Idea House I knew exactly how I wanted to use this "idea". I've been wanting a skirt for my work table since I put it up to hide all
the junk underneath, but nothing ever struck my fancy. This was the
perfect solution. Boy, was this ever easy!
I pretty much copied the Idea Home curtains. I used two yards of craft felt in the 72" width (which was 25% off at Hobby Lobby). I cut it with pinking sheers, threaded cheap yarn along the bottom edge, then attached it to my table top with thumb tacks. I then covered the top edge (and all the thumb tacks) with a piece of green gingham ribbon. Isn't it cute? I couldn't be more pleased.
After that was complete my ugly gray office chair stuck out like a sore thumb. What was I to do other than cover it? This was yet another project on my to-do list that I never got around to. I wish I had attempted this sooner because it literally took me an hour to complete. What a difference a cutesy fabric makes!
Ahhh, I'm loving my spruced up space!

Oh, I'm so jealous. It looks beautiful. My "studio" is the dining room table.

What a terrific makeover! That table skirt is such fun and really cheers your room. Your chair is fantastic. I've had my office chair on the re-do list for a while...Seeing your lovely one had me inspired to get out there and look for fabric! Thanks for sharing a peek of your pretty work room. Happy Day :o)

That looks great! I love your studio. I can't wait til I have one to start decorating. I second the idea for a chair covering tutorial! I have a cheap pleather one that has developed a huge hole in the seat.

Very cute - I love what you did with the chair. I've been wanting to do that too, but thought it would be too hard. Can you elaborate on how you did it?

I love your chair! Anna has the same chair in her room. Maybe you can spruce it up for me.

Love what you did to your table. My sewing table has been staring at me with all the junk under it. Thanks for sharing your idea.

sewing room envy here as well...my machine was in the basement of this 1900 house. Eeewe ... can you say spiders? Although I did spider bomb...so it shouldn't be that bad.
Love the room...

I love it all! I've thought about making skirts for my tables too, but since they butt up against the wall it's just not practical. The chair is absolutely lovely! I've been looking for an office chair but they're all so ugly. Now I know that can be fixed.
Thank you!

Oh it looks great!!! I can't wait until we move to a new house (sometime next year). With a baby on the way my work space is down to a tiny corner!!!
I just love the skirt. It is always nice to have a place for storage that is out of sight.

That looks so great! The chair transformation is amazing! I have a couple chairs the boys use when doing schoolwork that I really need to do that to- minus the flowers, of course.
Did you sew elastic to some pieces of fabric to slip over the chair or.....?

I have had plans to recover my office chair once my room is redone. I am in the process on the room and was hoping it would be easy to recover the chair. So glad to see it is.
Your room looks great!
