thrifty thursday
As usual, my recent thrifting trip did not disappoint! I tell ya, I'm beginning to fear that my good luck streak will end. Until it does, I'm going to milk it for all it's worth!!
Pillowcases:
I like the floral the best. I thought Lily might like the other (she does).
A curtain panel and some fabric:
The curtain fabric is a bit faded, but it's still nice. I'm sure it would make a great bag lining. When I saw the tan fabric on the right I immediately thought it would be great as a swing top for Ava.
More linens:
The best part about this is that it's a set - a full flat sheet along with two pillowcases. I love that soft pink.
I saved the best for last, the pièce de résistance:
Vintage kiddy fabric!!! It was so fabulously hideous, I couldn't pass it up! You can't really tell from the photo, but this is a BIG print. It's even louder in person (the incandescent light softens it a bit). I have no clue what I'm going to do with this.
I love this little (big) snail, so cute! And the flowers? Love them all!!
Okay, you can all be jealous now, hee hee!!

I love that pink sheet set, and I'm voting for a child's apron on that fun kiddie print!

So fun! And here you thought that you were in a dry thrift area. Not so my dear, not so.

You are a lucky girl! I'm glad someone is finding some great stuff. Our thrift stores have been so picked over lately.

Thrifty Thursday! I love it! We have 3 places to shop in our small town. Last time I found a bunch of bias tape and zippers for cents! I usually have Thirsty Thursday (wine with my neighbor) I'll be making some serious use out of Thrifty Thursday--Thanks!

Oh what fun finds!!

I have the same kiddy print from a thrift adventure! I turned a little of it (there was a HUGE amount for me) into a throw pillow. I have also seen someone (cant remember who now) take some of it and use it as an appliqué on a t-shirt. Cant wait to see what you come up with to give me more inspiration!

Totally jealous - what fab finds! I'm having to resist the urge to give in to Thrifty Thursday as I've already scored twice this week (check it out on my blog)! You can never have too much fabric tho' :) and the louder the better of course.
Dying to see what you make of it.

The vintage kiddie fabric is a-dorable!
Posted by: deb | September 13, 2007 at 02:01 PM
Oh, I really like the pink floral print and the kiddie set. I think there are great possibilities there - a pillow, cut out some of the characters or flowers for applique, a cute tote bag, make a doll the shape of the girl and then applique the girl onto the doll form.

You really did score some great fabric! I can see you using that snail as inspiration for an appliqué. The pink flower linens, well, I found 2 pillow cases of the same print back in the spring! Kind of weird huh, since I'm sure it's an "older design"--vintage. :)

Very jealous - lucky you! I love that last fabric - it really reminds me of some bedding that I had as a child.
Thank you so much for the lovely comment that you left on my blog earlier in the week about the horse embroidery! Really appreciated it. :-)

Posted by: youcraft | September 18, 2007 at 06:48 PM
all of the fabric is wonderful. i was amazed to see that you had that last piece of fabric because about a year ago i thrifted a blanket that has that same print. actually just the other day I saw the same print with different colors being used in an old 70's design magazine.
the question now is what to do with all of this wonderful stuff.
Posted by: christina | September 21, 2007 at 02:52 PM
love those floral prints!!
i just found a vintage barkcloth. with cowboy GUNS on it. it seemed way to violent for my sons' room.
I was bummed.
