weekend of sewing, and other stuff
Ah, I love long weekends. I was able to clean my house (multiple times - the only downfall of us all being home together), catch up on laundry, cook some hearty meals, and do some sewing. Not only was I able to get to the things I needed to get to, but I was able to do some things that I wanted to do, like the bag above. It wasn't in the plans to make myself a new fall bag, but I did anyway. I love how it turned out!
I used dark brown canvas, some vintage fabric from a thrift store score, and a vintage button. That button was a happy accident. I happened to be sewing this baby up late Saturday night and stupidly cut slits for a magnetic snap on the exterior fabric instead of the interior. Oops. I fixed it by ironing a piece of fusible interfacing on the back and covering the holes with this button. Whew! I'd hate to start over.
Another happy accident, sort of, was the purchase of a new camera. When I was setting my tripod up to take pictures for my shop update I dropped my trusty little point-n-shoot. It wasn't a big fall, but it was enough to break the darned thing. Isn't that how things happen, they break just when you really need them? I can't say I'm in love with my new camera, but then I wasn't totally in love with my old one. There will be a learning curve, but I think I'll grow to like it.
Oh, did you catch that? I made a little shop update, gosh, I hate shameless self-promotions!

We actually got some stuff done for a change this weekend, too, and it was such a relief! I hate it when we have nothing but an even bigger mess after three days together. ;)
