whew!
Is the school year over yet? No, wait, it just started! Y'all, I don't know how I'm going to make it this year. This week is the first week where everything is happening - boy, am I ever exhausted. AND, I only have 1 kid doing "stuff"!!! Here's a little rundown:
- Monday - Matt has football practice, then class (3 hrs)
- Tuesday - after football practice Matt & Lily have soccer practice (he's the coach, like he has time for that!)
- Wednesday - Matt has football and class (another 3 hrs), Lily has religion
- Thursday - Matt's football game, Lily has dance
- Friday - Matt has football practice, then NOTHING, thank goodness
- Saturday - NOTHING
- Sunday - Church, then Lily's soccer games
The good news is that soccer only lasts about 2 months, then we won't have that to deal with until spring, and football will be over with at about the same time, but then basketball will take it's place. With Matt's coaching and classes, we don't get to see him much. That's the worst part of it all. Poor guy. On top of the assignments he has for the classes he's taking, he also has lessons to plan and papers to grade for the classes he's teaching. I'll be so happy when he finishes this program, what an accomplishment that will be! I am finding my groove with the little ones and the running around we have to do. Yesterday I managed to do my grocery shopping while Lily is at dance, since the dance studio is right near the grocery store. Two tired kids at the end of the day in a grocery store isn't the best combination, but we made it work. There was a 10 minute temper tantrum (with everyone looking at me while I politely smiled) and a spilled drink on aisle 3, but we made it.
You probably think I'm crazy, but even with all that's going on I've got a few craft projects in the works. It's the possibility of working on them in the evenings that gets me through the day. That's my time to unwind and decompress. My cheap back-up machine has been serving me well since Richelle is in the shop. Did I mention that the man who is fixing her is 84 years old? I wasn't expecting her back any time soon, but I got a call yesterday saying that she's ready. We should be reunited on Monday. Wahoo! I celebrated by ordering her some new feet. That sounds weird, doesn't it?
Oh well, it's Friday, the weekend is ahead, and I have very little planned. Amen to that!!

I hope you get to decompress some on Saturday (before games on Sunday), so you will be able to sew out your little heart's content upon Richelle's return.
I can't believe Matt has to be away every night for so long. More power to you, girl.
(My hubby just started classes again, too, after taking off this summer.)

When school starts things get a little crazy around here too. Evey year I say we will cut back and not stay so busy, but we never seem to do it!!! I'm glad you are making time for your crafting!!! I can't wait to see your next creation.

Wow, I'm pooped just reading that. Good luck!

My week was just as crazy! Though we don't have sports in the mix just yet, we do have the library, playground and other activities I try to do with kids, couple that with doctor's appointments etc. and I'm so glad it's Friday!
I'm like you, I look forward to the evenings when I can do some projects in my studio while the babes sleep!
Enjoy and relax!

Sounds crazy! Good luck with all of that this fall! I'm glad it's Friday too and we haven't had nearly the things to do that you have.

Yeah, I got tired just reading everything that you guys are up to. And crafting on top of it all?!? I'm dying to know what will become of the adorable fabric pictured here. Another cute bag, perhaps?

I understand the need to craft amid all the chaos. I do that too.

whew...I'm exhausted just reading your post. I can't believe you can accomplish all that. That must be hard for you all to be away from Matt.
I had a good chuckle about the melt down at the grocery store. You know people were likely staring at you thinking...been there done that...so glad it's not my kid...kinda thing! It's not like my kids ever had melt downs at stores! :o) Enjoy your weekend.

It sure does get crazy when school starts. Mine isn't even in school yet, but seems as if we geared up with other projects at the same time!! Hardly a day without something scheduled.
Enjoy your 'slow' times and can't wait to see your crafting.

I'm tired now, just reading that. I need to go take a nap.

'Kay, I'm exhausted enough after reading that, let alone doing that. Don't forget to breath. And have a cup of tea.

I spend a good portion of the summer wishing for school, and then it starts, and I kick myself! It's a blessing and a curse! Just takes a few weeks to get it together and into a routine again, but man, is it hard!

The school year is always hectic but i secretly love it!! it seems so much more organized with better bed times which lets me have more time to craft!! once the timing gets down it seems to flow nicely for us.
it will get easier!!

I totally know how you are feeling. I am running in 10 different directions, my head is spinning, and that keeps me up at night cause my brain won't shut off. I am so tired in the morning. I am hoping in the next couple of weeks it will slow down a bit and become a more manageable pace.

i don't think you're crazy - i think crafting in the chaos is VITAL!

Yay for Richelle being fixed! :) It doesn't sound like things are going to slow down for you, but I do hope you are able to find some relaxing time!

Wow.... that's all I got to say. Just wow.
(and maybe "that which does not kill us makes us stronger" - but looking at your schedule makes me realize that I'm pretty weak!)
Posted by:lla | September 15, 2007 at 10:59 AM
You are one busy woman! And just to add to it, I left you a little tag.
Posted by:Ali | September 15, 2007 at 05:27 PM
Sometimes its that grabbed hour of crafting that keeps us sane. But life is always more fun when its busy!
Posted by:Steph | September 15, 2007 at 08:38 PM
Good grief woman! Can't wait to see the new projects!

I'm feeling the rush already too.
I hope your weekend was nice and boring. : )

Isn't it amazing how quickly this whole fall thing kicks into gear? I give you credit for forging ahead with your creative time at the end of the day ...

I"m totally coveting the little house fabric. I'm like that.
Posted by:brit | September 16, 2007 at 10:35 PM
Hope you had a relaxing weekend... it's definitely fun when there's little on the agenda!
Posted by:Julie | September 17, 2007 at 09:51 AM
Just reading about your schedule makes me exhausted!!
Posted by:Mirre | September 17, 2007 at 10:20 AM
However crazy it is always good for the soul to squeeze in a little craftiness - but boy it must be a squeeze with that schedule! I need a lie down now ...
Posted by:Lesley | September 17, 2007 at 03:25 PM
Ugh, i feel for you. I used to just DREAD the spring and fall when my husband would be working every night when my kids were little. Hang in there! And if you can squeeze in a little crafting it will help keep you sane.

I just love that little jumper!!! Sewing for little girls is the best. I still sew for my 10 year old, but nothing compares to sewing cute little jumpers, dresses, smocks...for little ones. Your little one is a doll by the way!!!
