lost in buttons
These little buggers are addictive. When I set out to make a few on Friday night, I never imagined that I'd end up with so many! I'm not complaining, I love them all. My explanation is that it took me about a half dozen before I got in the groove, then I couldn't stop. I also never imagined that it would take until Sunday evening to finish them up. Maybe I'm just being thorough, but I let the glue dry between each layer, so, well, you get the picture.
These were totally inspired by those given to me by Lori - I couldn't get them out of my mind! Thanks, Lori!!
Isn't she lovely? I couldn't think of a better way to display all these beauties. I think they give the old gal a nice look, don't you? To be honest, I thought she looked kind of creepy before, so these happy buttons are a welcomed addition. Now, I have to decide if I want to give them away or keep them - decisions, decisions...

I LOVE THEM! What kind of glue did you use? I should try some. I think they'd look perfect on top of a present too!

Yes, I want to know what glue you used, too. And I totally think you should give them away...maybe to your faithful readers? ;)

Those are absolutely adorable. To die for. Now I want to try that, but my button collection is nowhere near as good as yours.

Definitely give them away! They are incredibly cute!

So cute, and great color choices. I've been wanting to do something similar, but find that the buttons I want are priced to high to make as many as I want. Moderation, I guess, or I should start collecting.

They're adorable!...and eye-popping, too. Definitely give them away, after you've picked out the ones to keep, of course.

Well, I can speak with some authority on what would NOT be a goood idea!! What you shouldn't do is attach them to stocking caps. I did something similar to this (but in earth tone colors) about two years ago, attaching them to stocking caps I'd sewn flowers onto -- and not only did I bump my head and jam the pinback into my scalp...but they also fell apart much too quickly for my liking (I think the glue got too cold moving inside/outside and became brittle with all the temperature changing???) They didn't even make it through a whole season!
But, I think they'd look super cute embellishing gift packages. Or even dangling as ornaments off a tree. I also like to use them in artwork -- I've made whimsical little garden beds of flowers out of them... If they are stuper sturdy (unlike mine) - I thought they'd look cute on a child's wrist cuff too!

i'm all for giving them away...maybe towards kansas!

They are soooo cheerful and pretty. Please say which glue you used - I have tried gluing buttons with mixed results and am always on the look out for the perfect glue.

Those really are pretty. I love how they brighten your "model" right up! Also, I couldn't help but notice the beautiful artwork on your wall in the background. I bought a bunch of wooden embroidery hoops months ago, just for the purpose of framing fabric...and...well, yeah, they're still in my UFO box. Same for the pretty papers/frames. I think I'm hopeless. :)

Very cute display (and you can use it as a voodoo doll and imagine it's "enter name here" while you're poking them in)!
More terrific inspiration!!

They're so cute.
Another project I can add to my imaginary list of ways to use up all the old buttons I have.
I can see how they would be very addictive.

Those are funky/cute/adorable! My sick sense of humor thinks you should place 2 of them in a strategic location on your old gal. ;)

Just found your blog and LOVE it!!!
Very cute button project! I LOVE buttons and am always looking for new ways to use them. Currently working on a small wall quilt of my niece and am going to sew small yellow buttons in a random pattern into the yellow border as I quilt it.
I bought the buttons for another project and they were too small. I made placemats to mimic the homemade invitations I'd made for my (then) future daughter-in-law's bridal shower.
On the invitation I used yellow brads to keep the paper punched lavender flowers in place (I used a very fibrous paper which was a bear to punch!).
Anyway, on the placemats (cloth so they could be used again) I used buttons to hold the origami fabric flowers in place. I made 40 placemats, gave 12 to DIL and kept the rest to use when I host tea parties. :-)

Wow, those are so great! If you used E6000 it's no wonder you couldn't stop making them... you were on a crafting high. Heehee
Thanks for sharing your pretty work.

Thanks again for the shout out! These little buttons are quite addictive and I understand the need to make at least 20 at a time. :) Yours are lovely and are very colorful. Beautiful buttons. Are we starting a trend?
