Are you sick of this dress yet? I finally dressed Miss Ava Rose in it today, so I had to share. Couldn't you just eat her up? I could, even with her constant recital of "poo-poo...tee-tee". It gets a rise out of her brother and sister every time, therefore, she says it more. Lucky us.
Last week some time Cindy tagged me with 8 random things and Robyn tagged me with 5 random things, so I'm going with 8 randoms and calling it good, okay? I've already shared so many things about myself, this was kind of tough. Anyway, here it goes...
- I could live on wine, bread, and cheese....and salad (gotta have some greens). My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
- I tend to wear mostly solid colors. The only place I like to wear patterns is on skirts - with a solid colored shirt.
- I have a small scar on my upper lip from when I was a child. My mom had me wrapped up in a towel after a bath and I slipped on the bathroom floor. I guess I fell face first. That was my first stitch (I think, I have no recollection of this, only the scar).
- I have have a big head. This is new to me. I just learned this while having Ava's huge noggin checked out by the neurologist (the kid's head is REALLY big). The Dr. measured my head then told me that she gets her big-headedness from me, as my head measured at the top of the charts too. I find it interesting that I've gone my whole life without knowing that I have a big head!
- Bodily smells gross me out (hair, breath, feet, BO, etc.). Yuck! I like the smell of soapy cleanliness and laundry detergent.
- I have very strong fingernails that I like to keep short. I can't stand when my nails get too long, it drives me nuts.
- I don't get nearly enough sleep. *yawn*
- Shannen Doherty's asymmetrical face bugs me. That girl creeps me out! I can't stand to look at her.
Okay, that didn't seem so random, everything is somewhat body related. Oh well. I don't usually tag people, but today I am. I am now passing the baton to...
Feel free to play along, or tell me to shove it - your choice. Tee-hee! I think I'm supposed to tag 8 people, but because this was a 5 and 8 combo, I'm choosing 7. My reasoning is that the average of 5 and 8 is 6.5, and I can't choose 6.5, so I rounded to 7. Good enough? Okay.

Umm, who isn't creeped out by Shannen Doherty? Oh, and I completely agree with #1 - wine, cheese, bread. Throw in some cured meats on occasion and some pears or apples to go with the cheese and I'm as happy as can be.
Ava is killing me. I had talked myself out of having another one and you had to post that picture. Killing me.

Yes, I could eat her up with a spoon!! But then, I do have a weakness for adorable girl children named Ava Rose since that's my adorable girl's name! And though I think Shannon is beautiful her Picasso like asymmetry is intensely distracting to me and I don't like to watch her for too long because of it. Love your blog, don't know why I haven't found it sooner, I'm linking to you!

Ok I thought the dress was cute before but good lord with that little cupcake in it...too darn cute! And your number 8 totally cracked me up, I so feel ya on that one. :)

You have a big head? I never would have guessed. (I have to say I LOL'ed when I read it, though.)
And, yes, Ava is adorable. So is her dress.

Hi Beki, thanks for stopping by my blog. I will definitely try to spend the extra time wisely. Anyway, # 4 really cracks me up, and # 6 is like me. Your little Ava Rose looks so cute, and I'm assuming you made that adorable little dress. I wish I was that handy with a sewing machine:)

your big headed baby is adorable :) don't you know all the best people have big heads?
Posted by: Elizabeth K | November 28, 2007 at 09:48 PM
I recently started reading your blog and this post cracked me up. I too have a BIG head. Really. Everyone says that it doesn't look big but I can't wear an extra large bicycle helmet. I recently discovered this fact and now I feel like each child that I see wearing a safe, cozy bicycle helmet is taunting me.
You are not alone.

I have big headed kids, too, but they get that from their dad. :)

Who could be sick of that dress?!?!?! Especially with your lovey and her pouty lips. Too Cute!!!
Big head = big brain. That's why you are so creative!

Wine, cheese and bread....yea please, me too!

Ah look at Ava!!
She looks so big and cute in that pretty dress!
Posted by: Mirre | November 29, 2007 at 04:52 AM
She's adorable! Even more adorable than the dress! Which is hard!
Posted by: fiveberries | November 29, 2007 at 07:28 AM
I have to laugh about the "big head". I have such a hard time finding a decent sun hat because I inherited my father's head!
All my sisters and brothers did. I had the largest mortarboard in my college graduating class-in fact! As I tell my sons--lots of room for brains to grow!

That dress is so adorable. I could just stare at it forever. Wearable art for children. It's beautiful.

She is so cute! That dress fits her perfect. It's so fun to sew for them when they are little. Enjoy. My teenage girls make terrible fun of me for sewing them matching pants when they were little. There isn't much I can make that they will wear these days.

I don't think I ever realized how different SD's eyes were! And I am totally with you on the wine/cheese combo.
So, I guess we know what my post tomorrow will be, don't we?

Love the dress, and could eat up little Ava...she is too cute for words. It's wonderful that you love to make clothes for her and you do it so well. Thanks for sharing these with "us".

How cute is little Ava? Cute Cute! That's how much. And of course that dress really makes her cuter :)
I would never have thought you both had big heads, {from seeing photos of you both} but you know, that means you have a lot of brains :)

I miss wine! {sigh} Miss Ava is a doll in that dress (I do not see a big head - just a cutie.) The changes you made to the dress are perfect!

I love that dress, what look on Ava's face too! I love your new bags, I am going to try to tack the pleated bags, I cannot wrap my head around how to do the pleats so they lay nicely, I think maybe because i use too much stiff interfacing, it's a problem I have. Do you use interfacing for those kind of bags? Oh, and drop everything you are doing, and get to that bedroom, let me tell you, it really makes quite a difference...wink, wink...LOL.

What a cutie! She's gotten so big. Great revamp on the dress. It's darling and Ava looks so grown up in her tights and big-girl shoes!
Posted by: Debhogan | November 29, 2007 at 07:54 PM
I love the dress on Ava! Really, it's perfect!
And goodness, I don't know what to list for my eight random things now. Our similarities are uncanny--big heads, sleep deprivation, thinking long fingernails are icky, salads, BO is gross, and all!
Well, I may substitute beer for the wine, but otherwise...

Eeek she is so cute. That dress is pretty cute too.

Beki, I have been looking at that little dress and now to see it on Ava, it is darling! Love the 8 random things. So many of them are me too, especially the cheese, bread and wine. If I were on a desert island thats all I would need;)

Hang in there, girl! You're right, it will be worth it when the cupboards are white. I LOVE white kitchens! Before we moved into the parsonage 10 years ago I painted the old birch cabinets a nice white and have enjoyed it ever since. I freshened up the cabinet fronts about 5 years ago. Didn't take them off for that, just rolled on one layer of paint and it looked great.
This last winter while we were in South America our daughter had a small kitchen fire. Nothing destroyed except the hood over the stove and the light fixture BUT insurance paid for clean up and re-painting. This time they took the doors off. They were still off when we got home 3 weeks later and we lived without cabinet doors for another month before they finally got them back to us. So I know what you mean about having to see all those open cabinets every time you walk into the room. But you know, it took a good week to get used to having the doors back on when they reinstalled them! :-)

Love the bird! So cute against the print! Need to buy some tee-shirts and do some applique.

Love the dress and ditto, ditto, ditto on Shannen Doherty. I have a hard time seeing past her eyes/eyebrows ... I'm so glad I'm not the only person who notices this (but at the same time I appreciate that she's imperfect and can make it work).

I loved reading these, they made me smuile, always good to find out more about the person behind the blog!!!
Posted by: suziesews | December 06, 2007 at 11:03 AM
she looks adorable in the dress! And I have never liked Shannon Doherty. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that she broke up with Luke Perry's character or that she was always snooty sounding on the show. I, too, have to keep the nails short. I do it mostly so that I won't scratch the kids by accident.
