a few gifts
I said that I wasn't going to make any Christmas gifts this year. I know myself. If I declare to make bunches of Christmas gifts I'll end up burnt out and totally stressed. The holidays are stressful enough without my putting more pressure on myself. But, as the holiday got closer I got the urge to make something, so a few little gifts were made.
These two little zippered bags were for co-workers of Matt. I think they turned out kind of cute.
A dishtowel and pot holder.
This was a set of two dishtowels - one printed and one appliqued. I turned the printed one into a potholder and added rick rack to the dishtowel to fancy it up a bit.
Tissue holders and a zippered pouch.
I also made zippered pouches and tissue holders for Lily's teachers, but I forgot to take a picture of that.
Making these little gifts was fun, mostly because there was no pressure. If I made them, great, if not, no big deal. Thankfully, I think all who received them liked them. Maybe next year I'll plan ahead and start making Christmas gifts, um, next month!!

very good! I made nearly everything this year and learned that lesson. Make them early and resist giving them until Christmas!

Oooo - so many delicious goodies! Those little zips are cute. I love that Katie Weave fabric. The floral fabric with the red dish towel and potholder is pretty too.

Next year I swear I am starting early. I ended up finishing a quilt at 1 pm on Christmas Day for my grandmother. I am an idiot for waiting so long.

Great little gifties! I'm so starting my December sewing for next year....making a list and getting it all done before Thanksgiving...none of this last minute stuff like this year. SewMamaSew's 30 days of projects has tons of ideas. Your little zippy bags are really cute. Personally I really like the hot pads too. They're on my list of things to make

Very cute stuff. I agree, I think I'll start tomorrow on my gifts for next year! ;)

Oh I so know how you feel! I always say that I am going to start sooner & never seem to. This year was the worst yet! I am still not done! The only thing saving me is that everyone is out of state. With moving & allI think that we are forgiven this year. I love everything that you made! Those first two little bags areo cute!

You're one smart woman. The handmade Christmas that my siblings and I agreed on made December really rough for me. While I really like the idea of it, waiting until a few weeks before Christmas to get started cut it too close. I'm actually thinking about starting next month for next year...

Everything turned out beautifully, Beki. I made a ton of zippered pouches as gifts this year. That was "the gift."

Start now...that's the key!!! I love your ideas . I'm sure I will use some for my next round of gift giving!
Happy New Year!
