cool!
I am very happy to report that thanks to Michelle's suggestion of using rubbing alcohol on the sharpie markings, I can now procrastinate over re-painting my master bedroom a bit longer! Yep, plain old rubbing alcohol took the marks off, for the most part. It's good to know these things!
That wasn't the only good thing that happened yesterday. Look what was left on my doorstep. When I peeked into the bag I told Alex "oh boy, the fabric fairy stopped by!". Yeah, he thought I was a bit nutty. Inside the bag was an adorable cupcake softie and some fabric purges from Cathy. Yay Cathy! She said she was spring cleaning early and decided to pass those goodies along. Thanks Cathy, I really appreciate it. I think other people's scraps are so much more interesting than my own. I've dedided that my studio needs some serious purging, so be on the lookout in the next few months - I plan on giving lots away. I haven't decided how I'll do it yet, but I'll probably group things in bundles, then offer it up for shipping. Is anybody interested in that? This is going to be a hodge podge of stuff - home dec fabrics, apparel fabrics, and some quilting cottons.
One last thing before I go, you all should hop on over to Mary Ann's new Indie-pendence blog. Indie-pendence is a new blog she started up this year to feature independent designers. It's a really cool place to discover some great etsy talent, and I'm not just saying that because I'm in the designer spotlight, hee hee! Thanks Mary Ann, I'm truly honored!!

darling cupcake // lots of fabric-y goodness!
Can't wait to go read that profile (the spotlight looks good on you!)

Love the cupcake! I'm glad you can put off the painting just a wee bit longer. You have enough on your hands with that kitchen floor.

Look at you go dynamo!! xxx

I had read somewhere about rubbing alcohol and sharpies and tried this - I put a few sharpie dots on some thin white cotton fabric - stretch the fabric over a jar opening with a rubber band - and then eye droppered the alcohol on the fabric. As it wicked out from the center the dot forms these wonderful "rays" of color. After the alcohol evaporates, the inked fabric remains washable in cold water. I plan to use these as flowers on a baby blanket soon.

Congratulations, Beki. You ARE a dynamo!

Hello! Yes, I am soooo definately interested in scraps always! I keep every last scrap for I make crazy quilts and other similar fabric collage-type stuff! Yeah! I love give-aways. :)

The cupcake reminds me of a "hello Kitty" doll I had when I was little. It would change colour in the water. I've just recently joined the blog world and have also rejoined the crafting world this past winter. I would definately be intrested in scraps as my collection right now are a few odds and ends and some of my husbands dress shirts.

thanks for the sharpie comment - i just let it be if the magic eraser doesn't take it off (which it usually does, btw) - i figure i'll paint when the kids STOP drawing on the walls!
(nice haul - LOVE the cupcake!)

i LOVE the idea of fabric giveaways for shipping :-) being a "newbie" at crafting i definitely need to build up my fabric stash (which is pitifully small right now!) and i have a very small budget for fabric right now... (hint hint ;-))

i wish the fabric fairy would show up at my house! cute cupcake!

I was thinking of a way to get myself going after the haze that was Christmas present sewing- seriously, I haven't turned my sewing machine on since Christmas! New (to me!) fabric might do the trick. I was thinking I could do with a purge myself. Would you be interested in a swap? Otherwise I will just have to wait to see how you decide to 'parcel' it out :)
BTW any ideas for blog-block? My last post was in November!

What a great idea!

the fabric giveaway idea sounds fun. :) i hope you post pics of the scraps you plan on giving away. i'd just ogle them since i dont think i should join the fabric-excitement. :D shipping cost to my country is frightening.

very cute cupcake. so glad to hear that the marker came off the wall. I bet you are just a bit disappointed that you don't get to repaint your room.

Great feature on you on Indie-pendence. And I'm so glad to have finally caught up on my blog reading and see that your niece is out of the hospital. You all must be so relieved.

LOVE that fabric that's on top of the stack in the first photo! What a treat to have received all that. I've been reading your blog for a while - thought I'd de-lurk and say "hello". Have a happy weekend.
