not too bad
Look what we did this weekend. Yeah, I'm feeling it. Wielding around a big hammer is a work out!! My right arm is sore and I have blisters on my hands. All from a few hours of manual labor. Man, I'm a wuss.
Not too bad. The holes aren't near as bad as I was imagining. I think we'll go with it. I actually like the color. Why would anyone tile over these? Crazy, I tell ya.

In case you're wondering, Berkley is continuing to make progress. Thanks again for all your prayers!!

Oh, that's so much hard work. The floor looks like it'll be okay though. Just a little rustic! Take a deep breath (somewhere other than that room) and keep on going!

Oh, I'm glad she is doing better! i prayed for her on the way home from church today ( an hours drive). i know what you mean, about remodeling that is, i have done my share. it sucks to take up tile like that, ug, if feel for you and your blisters. but yeh, its going to look grand!

Been there, done that with a 100 year old home we use to have. I feel for you and think you deserve HUGE cheers (and a massage!).

I hear ya. My shoulder hurts today from three hours of work in the yard...manual laborers are mocking me right now.

They'll turn out great! Just rent a buffer instead of doing that by hand too!

I am so glad she is doing better, what a scare for your family. I will still keep her in my prayers.
I like it.

Why in the world do people cover hardwood flooring?! We rented a buffer/sander from Home Depot after we removed all the carpeting in our house (and about a million staples). Kitchen looks great so far!

I'm glad to hear Berkley is improving!
I cannot believe someone covered that gorgeous wood floor! My poor husband spent the weekend laying hardwoods in our nursery. He's stiff, broken and sore today too! (and he's got several rooms to go).

It's funny the things that people will cover up, isn't it? Oh, and I'm a wuss, too. I'd have probably wimped out before then :-)

I know! Why would anyone tile over that beautiful hardwood. I sanded the bathroom this weekend to prepare for painting next weekend (and the way we work, probably the weekend after that as well). I'm right there with you on the home-improvement aches and pains.
So glad to hear Berkley is doing better. I thought about that picture of the two girls all weekend.
Cheers! L

Crazy that they covered up those floors! They look super. You must be so happy and relieved.
Happy to here that Berkley is doing so much better!

This rocks! It's so worth the blood, sweat and tears. We tore out lots of carpet at my house a few years ago (a bit easier than tile...) and my husband refinished the floors - amazing difference! Stick with it.
Glad to hear that your niece is feeling better.

Hi, you must have worked really hard! We put a wood floor down and I gave it four coats of stain and varnish...it was exhausting work, I remember.

First of all, glad to hear Berkley's health is progressing forward! I've been keeping her in my prayers!
Wood floors are awesome! Maybe after a good sanding and refinishing the holes will disappear. Good luck hard workers!

I haven't been able to do any blog reading lately. I can't imagine how scary that must've been for you and your family (Berkley) I'm thrilled to hear she is on the mend. I will say some prayers for her still. You can never have too many of those.
LOVE the bags you posted a few posts ago. You have every reason to be proud of them. They rock!
Love the wood floors too!

I hate to even say this - but there is still a small chance that you will discover why they tiled over it. Which I *so* hope doesn't happen... I'm just speaking from experience - in my neighborhood, bunches of us have torn up parts of the kitchen floor (and for some reason, it is always the kitchen) and seen gorgeous wood beneath. So we get all industrious and start ripping stuff up. Only to find horrible patch jobs done. (In my case - large parts of my kitchen floor were chipboard. I can't believe that we never fell through. Wait, scratch that... when Scheck was a tot, he was running through the kitchen and put his foot through the floor! He was what? All of 27 pounds, or something???)
If you are planning on painting the floor, it's not a big deal. Unless the morons used chip board instead of actual, you know, LUMBER. But I think that the only people that stupid are the couple from whom we bought The House That Crazy Built. (and you thought that was just a nickname...)

The cabinets and floor look great! I don't envy you. Remodeling is always a PITA but it's so worth it. So glad to hear that Berkley is doing better :)

Its looking good. Let's hope the whole floor is the same. All the blisters and sore arms will be worth it.
