the funk
I'd love to report about the fantastic weekend I had, but then I'd be lying. Yes, I'm in a funk. It probably started with my sick bug last week, but I fought it. I kept up with my daily challenges and continued to try new things. I promise, I really was geared up to have a nice weekend, but the letter I received from the Dept. of Revenue for $1500 kind of put a kink in those plans. No, I didn't really owe them $1500 (more like $18), but it upset me the same. Why do those types of letters have to come on Friday evenings? I think they do that on purpose to make you fret about them all weekend long. Anyway, that started my weekend funk. I didn't do my self portraits. I didn't do my daily drawings. I didn't even knit. In fact, I had the urge to rip out the scarf I have been working on (an eyelet pattern, not the one I photoed last week). Gah! Gray, wet, cold January days suck!!
Despite all that, I did manage to do a little sewing. I had some deadlines to meet and some projects that needed attention. I'm still working on my baby kimono pattern. How's this one? It's pretty good, but the sleeve needs a little work. I think my latest version (not yet sewed up) has it worked out, we'll see...
I did start to feel a little better once I got a handle on my laundry and the dirty dishes (and did a little fun sewing), but that didn't happen until Sunday evening. But guess what? It's a new week and I'm determined to make it a good one. It's all about attitude!! Happy Monday ;-)

i know what you mean! it's the slushy, gray, cold days that are the hardest to take. BUT the kimono looks really great, and i see sunny skies ahead:)

That kimono is adorable. So cute in that fabric.
Spring is around the corner!

i love that fabric! something that cute should compensate for the funk. :)

That's going to be one cute Kimono pattern!
I get in slumps as well. Sometimes I'll go a few days without going into the sewing room and that's okay - sometimes it's good to have a little break. But it stinks that you had to worry about the letter. I hope this week goes better for you!

I hope you are able to get out of the funk soon. Pretty impressive you were able to sew something regardless! Surely February will be better!

This is the time of year for slumps, that is for sure!
That kimono is darling though. So, are you selling these? Or the pattern?

I hear ya on the weekend funk! My heater broke weekend before last and finding out that it was going to be $600 to fix it seriously put a harsh on my weekend mellow.
The baby kimono is very cute. That fabric would make a cute bag too.

Love the kimono. And thank goodness it was $18 and not $1500. Eek!

It IS all about attitude - but getting to the point where that attitude is positive can be hard!

Adorable!

I love the kimono... what about the sleeves to you want to change? Wider? I, too, am impressed with how much work 'funky' Beki gets done. Here's to a good week, hon!

here's to you having a wonderfully productive week!
Posted by:amy | January 29, 2008 at 07:25 AM
cold gray days are hard to take - and when you add in the sucker punch of an income tax letter (a scarily high one, at that?) - well, I think a little funk is understandable.
Sorry the weekend was such a suckfest - but here comes the sun - I know the week will be better...

These January days are a drag. And when you work all day, it leaves very little sunlight or time to work on those fun projects.
You're right though, it is a new week!

This is the cutest thing I have ever seen!

That kind of letter would put me in a funk, too. And the fact that it came on a Friday - you had to think about it all weekend! Glad it turned out to be wrong.
I LOVE that baby kimono! That fabric is gorgeous.

I'm in for the Funk club too! i thought about going to the Tanning beds to see if being warm, in a "sunny" place would make it any better.
ps. we have a similar problem with the IRS, they think we owe...actually they owe us!
Posted by:Jana | January 29, 2008 at 08:14 AM
oh, those letters! we got one (incorrect as well) too - they stink.
cute kimono - hope you get out of your post-sick funk soon. it takes a while!

We've got that funk here too. The flu finally left the building on Sunday and I'm digging my way through the house. Love the kimono!
Posted by:Jade | January 29, 2008 at 10:40 AM
We all get the funk. It passes!
I'm so excited about your kimono pattern, and I don't even have a baby... or know of anyone who will be having a baby... wahhhhhh!

Very cute kimono and hoping the blues leave sooN!! :D
Posted by:StacyT | January 29, 2008 at 03:13 PM
I believe that the government sends those letters to be picked up on Fridays purposely! It's quite stressful and I don't blame you for feeling icky.
Posted by:AJ | January 29, 2008 at 03:13 PM
The kimono looks really cute and I'm just finishing up a funk that lasted a couple of weeks for me. It's cold and the creative process is being frozen in my brain but I'm hoping things are starting to thaw soon.
