uninspired, sort of
I haven't been uninspired to create, but I have been uninspired to take photos, blog, and answer email. What's up with that? Just last week I deleted over 300 messages, and now I'm already back over 100. I feel bad deleting, really I do. I'd love to respond to every one of them (most are your lovely comments), thanking you for your kind words, but there isn't enough time in the day. Having said that, if you asked me something, please email me again, I promise I'll answer!!
I don't know why I'm not in the mood to take photos. I was really getting into it, participating in a 365 self portrait challenge, but that has fallen by the wayside. I just don't feel like it anymore. Maybe I'll pick it back up with a 52 weeks challenge. Right now that sounds much more manageable, or maybe I'll just turn it into a 365 anything goes challenge. Yeah, I've got it together...
Since Monday I've been trying to come up with something to blog about. I think this may be one of the first time I've had blogger's block (is that what it's called?). I've not come up with anything interesting, so I just decided to pick up the camera and take a few photos of the things that have been keeping me busy and blather on about nothing.
Even though I haven't been feeling "right", I have accomplished the major feat of having all my laundry washed, folded, and put away, I am all caught up on the dishes, the house is fairly neat, AND I've been sewing for at least an hour every night. What??? Where is the Beki I used to know? Oh wait, take a look at that sewing room...
One more random tidbit - I think people use the word amazing too much. If you've made it this far, I think you're amazing.
**more buttons
**the easter egg themed short & sassy pleated bags
**my messy sewing room

I love your last photo, a sewing room well used!

Your sewing room and my sewing room could be messy sisters, BUT I have mountains of laundry and dishes galore and the dust bunnies are becoming sort of mutant dust bunnies. Sigh.

your photos are totally "amazing" he he he.

Er...Bloggers BLOCK lol. My bad.

I know exactly what you mean! I can't wait to see the finished spring purses, they're going to be lovely.

I'm liking those fabrics, beki... and the view from your sewing room floor. ;)
Posted by: misschris | February 20, 2008 at 06:18 PM
I've had that this week too. I'm just going to sit here and admire your sewing room and pretend that it's mine.

I wanna sew in your sewing room!
Posted by: ash | February 20, 2008 at 06:44 PM
Your sewing room looks AMAZING (he he!!). My sewing space is in a dingy dark basement between the washing machine and the furnace. Must do something about that.

i have been feeling the same way. and several other bloggers have posted about the same problem. maybe there is a virus going around :)

congrats on being caught up on laundry - for now - you know they're wearing another load right this minute.
(love the bag straps!)

First, don't worry about emailing me back! :) Second, I totally have the blogging blahs too. Have you seen my blog lately? It's dullsville over there, which is exactly how my craft life is going too.

hang in there--this too shall pass!
Posted by: carrie | February 20, 2008 at 08:24 PM
awww thanks - you're amazing too! And i think it's just that time of year - many seem to be blogging a little less and blogging about being uninspired. I'm hoping it passes here too!
Posted by: jessi | February 20, 2008 at 09:37 PM
That's okay...we all seem to catch the listless illness about once a year. At least you're still crafting. I'm loving the peek into your organised chaos.

I can relate to a lot of what you said here. i'm blaming it on the below zero temps.

Hey, I've got some bag straps with lines sewn on them on my sewing table, too!
I hear you on the time thing. I spent a couple of hours last night getting my list of over 100 emails down to about 20 last night. I feel guilty, too, but if I spent all my time at the computer, I wouldn't ever sew!
There's only so much one woman can do, you know. If I stay up too late every night trying to get it all done then I'll just explode. Hang in there, your blogger's block will lift!
My floor looks like that a LOT. One nice thing about having a little sewing student is that I clean my sewing room the morning before she arrives! I wouldn't want her mom to think that to sew = being disorganized. HA! :o)

Awe, shoot, girl. You're amazing. ;)

Oh my, look at your amazing collection. Sorry, couldn't resist saying that.
But really, it is an awesome collection. I have nowhere near that many buttons and I am ashamed to say my fabric stash is everywhere. Even in the pantry.

I think there is a blog block virus going round, funny too I have also being doing housework, so unlike me...BUT I am pleased to say that the good thing here is all those lovely pictures...

Sometimes when you "make" yourself take photos, it sucks the fun out of it. I'm not at all creative in my blogs. I also felt really yeuchy when I was on steroids for a bronchitis thing last summer. It might even be that that's messing you up. I felt like hot flashes, almost sick. Hope you're feeling better and you don't have to respond to this one :)
Posted by: paula | February 21, 2008 at 05:59 AM
Beki,
Where do you get your collection of buttons? Do you get them online? I look for them at the fabric store and there is a limited selection.
Thanks, Sara
P.S. Glad you are feeling better. I was taking prednisone last week too for a swollen throat(strep I think). Swallowing water was becoming painful.
Posted by: Sara | February 21, 2008 at 06:33 AM
I don't know what it is about your pictures of the pretty buttons but I keep going back to look at them over and over. Maybe just reminds me of Spring of something. Oh yeah and I love your pleated bags.
Posted by: Peg | February 21, 2008 at 07:57 AM
wow. you are AMAZING!!! hee hee. i am having blogger's block too. crap. just can't think of anything witty and cool. i'm a baby blanket making factory over here and everyone has seen those a million times. sigh. maybe i'll post about it anyway. now i'm babbling in your comments. dude.
Posted by: heidi | February 21, 2008 at 09:42 AM
Ha! I also wrote about being uninspired today - before looking here! Maybe it has to do with the cold weather. I'm ready for spring!
Posted by: Lisa {milkshake} | February 21, 2008 at 09:46 AM
I've been feeling that too, Beki. I think I always hit a funk in February, and I've been so busy, that when I sit down to blog, nothing comes. Or, the handful of drafts that I have going aren't quite ready, or have a suitable photo, or whatever...
So, you're not alone.
Posted by: Tracy | February 21, 2008 at 10:45 AM
Love all the pretty buttons and fabrics. I always love to see such wonderful fabrics all stacked up. Great picture!
Posted by: Lisa | February 21, 2008 at 11:21 AM
I so understand about the emails.Where do they all come from? The same place as dust bunnies I think!
Posted by: Kristy | February 21, 2008 at 12:39 PM
"Amazing, Beki." :-)
I hear ya on the emails. If there were only enough time in the day ....
Posted by: lera | February 21, 2008 at 01:48 PM
Oh geeze. I am not even going to show you my sewing room for fear my mom will see it over the internet. It's shameful. I don't have the energy to tackle the sewing room tonight, but maybe the dishes.
Posted by: LeeAnn | February 21, 2008 at 04:16 PM
I'm loving the start of those easter egg bags... Can't wait to see them finished.
Posted by: jodie | February 21, 2008 at 06:26 PM
love those picutres of the buttons. it is a tough time of year, and you have been really sick. I bet you will feel back to normal really soon. and doing the laundry for a family of five! that is a huge chore in itself. i dread it every week!
you still inspire me!
Posted by: katie | February 21, 2008 at 07:14 PM
For me, a messy sewing room is a sign that I'm gettin' stuff done! Yay for messy sewing rooms!

I totally know how you feel, I've been laxing on my writing alot but it's good to focus on other things around, then come back to it when you feel happy about it.
Posted by: dee | February 21, 2008 at 07:46 PM
Beki, I'm right there with you on feeling the blogging issues. I'm overwhelmed by the time it takes to respond to comments and to upload photos to post and all. I've considered changing the way I do things, and hope that you're able to find some way of making this work better for you. If it helps, I want you to know that I'd prefer that you not respond to my comments unless there's something pressing to say, since I know it will take a little pressure off of you and your busy days. Feel better, friend!
