one step closer
I apologize for the horrible photos, but taking photos of a window is hard!
With the long holiday weekend I had grand plans of getting to all sorts of crafty projects. Of course that didn't happen! The only thing I did do was something that I didn't plan on doing, it just sort of happened. Crazy, I know.
Friday night we had 2 less kids, so I made new curtains. This was so easy, I don't know why I put it off. I took the total slacker route and didn't line them or hem the sides, but I like them anyway. Wait, I more than like them, I LOVE them.
When we installed the first shade weeks ago, I really didn't like it. Then I put my old curtains back up to see if I liked the shade any more. Eh, I liked it a little more, but not much. I decided to wait on my decision about the shade once I had the real curtains made. Then I got my curtain fabric, which I was still questioning. I procrastinated a bit, but once I got the curtains made and hung, I immediately installed the second shade. I'm so happy I followed through with my idea.
See, these are long enough, unlike my last ones, which always bothered me. These curtains are made of natural colored linen, which look pretty gray. I love the look of the light filtered through these. It really does give the room a whole new look. It's all coming together, I guess I had better get started on that table quilt!

They look simple and lovely!

Very nice, Beki! And similar to what I have planned for my kitchen when(....) that eventually happens. Great job! (And windows ARE hard to photograph!)

Hey! Those look great! I did the same "slacker" linen curtains in my bedroom, but somehow it still looks fab-u-lous! I didn't even hem the top or bottom! Just over-long natural white linen and torn at that!!! I guess you really can't go wrong with linen:-) (Or silk for that matter...) Love the shades too. Happy Spring!

yay for a new look! Love it.

They look great. I have some "oatmeal" colored linen hanging around to be made into curtains for our computer room. I keep putting it off as well. I think I bought the linen in January.

Very nice Beki! It's all coming together for you. I had to hem some curtains for Makena's room a while back and I just knew for sure I'd botch it up somehow. But it all worked out!

Nice! Where did you buy your linen?

Beautiful! I'm jealous of the amount of natural light in your home. We need more of it here!

I love your floor to ceiling windows! And the arch at the top is a nice touch. I installed linen curtains in my living room and love them, but I took the easy way out and found them on super clearance at BedBath. Your curtains look amazing with the light filtering thru them.

I love all the activity that's going on in your house, you're such a busy girl!! Not much going on over here at the moment. My grandma dying last week has kind of left me a little lethargic, all I can do at the moment is write and some x-stitching. I want to do so much, but just can't find the energy nor the little push I need. Maybe I'll just give in for now and wait for things to happen again. The weather isn't helping much either, we had a white easter, and the snow still isn't stopping, I hate it!!! Can't I come over and stay with you for a while LOL ;-)

I like them! I have been wanting something like this in my bedroom, but long curtains don't mix well with the dog crate, and we have nowhere else to put the animal.

they are just lovely, beki! isn't it amazing how we put off the easiest things? (i am thinking of my duvet and bed skirt here)

ooh i love your curtains. i have been contemplating linen curtains myself lately. there are so many linen choices out there right now. but i love the simplicity of the solid, unlined linen.

I felt the same way about my bedroom drapes... I put off making them for so long. When I finally did make them, I was so happy. (and they were not hard to do at all!) Enjoy! You are on a roll.
