next on the agenda...
Because one of the main reasons for buying my new machine was clothing construction, I'd like to work on some clothes for myself. Next weekend Matt and I have a fiesta themed function to attend, so I thought I'd make myself a new dress. I'm thinking of trying out a sleeveless wrap dress (view C, or maybe I'll do D) in a printed linen. The linen ended up being a little more bold than I expected (that's what I get for ordering online), so I think it will work for a "fiesta". I'm gonna wing it this time, forgoing the muslin. If it doesn't turn out, oh well, I'm not THAT in love with the fabric. I've often been surprised by fabrics once they're made up, I'm hoping that will be the case this time.
Yesterday I couldn't help myself at Hobby Lobby. Simplicity patterns were $1.99. I went in there with two patterns on my list, but ended up buying four. They'll all probably end up sitting in my pattern stash, but I can't resist a sale! I would like to attempt that Project Runway shirtdress, I love that style. Who knows, I might get on a roll and make myself a whole new wardrobe, hee-hee!
Did you know that HGTV.com had a craft blog? Well it does, and a few of my tutorials have been featured. Go check it out! If you've seen my fluffy flower tutorial in the past, you might want to check it out again because I've updated it with better pictures (Lera, I know you'll love it!). The old ones were so BAD!!

i admire you for making clothes that you actually wear out in public! i am going to try that this summer with a few dresses with no buttons or zippers! can't wait to see what you make!

Those dress patterns are all really cute. I'm looking forward to making some summer clothes but to be honest, I want to loose a few pounds first. sigh!

I love a wrap dress. I can't wait to see yours. Congrats on being on the HGTV blog. I left you an Excellent blog award on my blog because I think you are extremely excellent!

Best of luck with the dress. I'm sure it will be beautiful! I'm going to attempt a skirt tomorrow so we'll see how that turns out. I have no pattern so I'm scared. But that's how I roll!

That looks like a good dress pattern. I was just admiring some dressed at the Gap that looked just like those in your pattern. I can't wait to see how yours turns out!

OK I have not been on your blog for a wee while and whilst this is a little remiss of me, I do so love, settleing down with a good cup of Tea and catching up, as usual the amount of crafting going on blows me away and with the side helping of inspiration I am full to the top...Some lovely things (as usual) going on here. So looking to see your clother being made, I have a whole pile of patterns I want to make and never get round to doing them so maybe you can inspire me!
Have a great weekend

I love that Vogue pattern, can't wait to see how it looks sewn up. I also just bought that Project Runway pattern, I think I bought all the Project Runway patterns. Joanns had a $1 for Simplicity sale last week.
I think I will try one of them, I am giving up on the Lotus Tunic for now LOL

Go go go..! I'm always chicken to make myself clothes, but you're going to give me that extra nudge I need to get over it. :) Cute. Love the PR shirtdresses, too.

Love the patterns! I always feel so inspired when I am looking at patterns, and I just want them all. So, needless to say, I have a large stash of un-cut patterns. But I think we should all encourage ourselves to do a little more sewing of our own clothes - that way we keep the world beautiful and unique - one outfit at a time. :) Good luck with the dress - I can't wait to see it!

Your clothing always turns out so great! I think you should BE on project runway!

I do that all the time with patterns! When they're on sale I tend to go nuts. At last count I have over 75 patterns and I've probably only used around 2/3 of them.
I especially love the costume patterns. Where I'll ever wear a dress like Emma Thompson's in Much Ado About Nothing or an adult-sized Little Bo Peep I have no idea. But it never hurts to be prepared. At least that's how I justify it.

Oh...I'm so glad someone else bought patterns this week...i haven't bought clothes patterns in 10 years...and I bought 3 this week, very simple ...hey, I have to strive to get to your level.

Good luck with the dress, I like your pattern choices. I bought a proj. runway shirt (3504) to try for myself. I am just getting started with sewing clothes... I have collected about 6 pinafore/dress/bloomer patterns for my daughter... because they were on sale. And, I got an issue of Ottobre (for kids) for my birthday. So, I have a lot on my plate, and I'm trying to keep up momentum. I think reading all these crafty blogs helps the momentum. Thanks.

Ooh, I'd like to try that PR pattern, too! I wonder if our Hobby Lobby is having a sale.

Those patterns are just beautiful, and I'm certain that your finished products will reflect your own style and artistry as well! I do love the fabric you're using for your fiesta dress. It reminds me of a tangy margarita... very fiesta! :)
I have some big news over at my blog as well, so if you have a moment, pop on over and take a peek. HUGS!

I'm lovin' the bold linen! I tell ya, if anyone can pull it off, it's you lady. Seriously - you do amazing things with bold prints.

You're becoming a regular craft blog celebrity, Beki! I'm glad to say I knew you when....
My second home ec sewing project was a shirt dress, and by the time I finished it was too small and didn't fit. I'm amazaed that my 8th grade self tackled all those buttons and button holes - in contrasting topstitching as well! Where did that fearless seamstress go?
