all knitting, all the time
Not much got accomplished this weekend other than knitting. The weather was kind of yucky, so what better to do than sit on the sofa and knit?
I was nearing the end of Ms. Marigold, so I was a woman obsessed. I tend to get that way at the beginning and end of of a project.
Ms. Marigold got finished, but I'm not completely happy with it. The torso is a little long, which isn't a biggie, but the ribbing around the neck is too loose. This was my first time picking up stitches, and I think I picked up too many. Oh well, this is all a learning process, right?
After I took those pictures it occurred to me that I could rip the neck ribbing off and knit it again. I wish I had thought of that before I had woven in all the ends! It took me a while, but that's exactly what I did. So, I guess Ms. Marigold isn't finished after all.
That's okay, I have a new knitting companion to share the sofa with. That's my girl!!

I have always wanted to know how to knit. Your daughter is very lucky to learn from you. Good luck with Ms. Marigold.

Wow! Your tension is great! I can't believe you're so new to knitting and your fabric looks so great... I mean congratulations :)
And I like your hair even better today! It's always better when you can style it yourself, looks awesome :D

it looks so good! I was going to suggest ripping out the ribbing if you weren't happy, so I'm glad to see that you went there all on your own. :)
How fun that you have a new knitting companion! Mine knit too, but when they do, I have to help them and I don't get much done myself. Soon, I hope.

Wow, the sweater looks great! I love that color. Picking up fewer stitches is going to cinch in that neckline and make it super sexy :)

cute sweater! That's been on my wish list for a while now :)

That turned out great! Nice color on you, obviously you like it since your lipstick matches. =) Hope you get the neckline the way you want it.

Beki, I have no idea how to knit or how you can take yarn and turn it into that... but it is really cute! And so fun for fall... now, if we can just get some cooler weather down here so you can wear it outside of your air conditioned house!

Ohh i love it! Where did you get the pattern?
You really are a talented knitter.

You look great. You're making me want to start knitting again.....maybe in October.

So impressive!!!
I think it looks great. I'm still kind of scared to try anything harder than a scarf or a dish towel.
BTW, your new hairstyle is lookin' good. . . it is very similar to my cut!

This reminds me of this sweater I was wanting yesterday:

The top looks great! It's on my to-knit list too. Hope re-doing the ribbing works out well. It all looks very neat even if you're not happy with the overall fit, and it's a lovely colour.

When I do ribbing I pick up two stitches for every three rows. Good luck! Otherwise it looks like a great shape on you :)

love the color - matches my man socks :) ms. marigold is going to look great once you're done. i can already see it with some layering, maybe a chocolate brown jacket, a scarf, your perfect new do. yesterday afternoon my daughter asked me to read her a book, then said, "nevermind, let's just sit here and knit." a girl after my own heart.

I can't believe what a prolific knitter you are! Looking forward to seeing the modified Ms. Marigold. Good thing you have the courage/energy to redo it. Sometimes I just can't pick it up again once its not right. By the way, I love the haircut!
Posted by: Lori | September 15, 2008 at 12:06 PM
love it beki. It is nice to know you can jsut rip out the neck and knit it up again. i think it looks great though. Maybe with a button down shirt it won't be as noticable?
Posted by: katie | September 15, 2008 at 12:58 PM
Oh I really like that!!! If it's too long for you it would probably fit me...;)

I love the socks on the table. It's JUST LIKE MY HOUSE. I always feel better when I see photos like this. Hope the vest comes out better. You will be happier in the long run that you fixed it.

Way to go, Beki! It looks so very pretty. The stitches look very even and precise.

I love it! What a beautiful color on you too! I love to knit but I have never made any article of clothing for myself. I think that as it gets colder, I am going to be picking up my needles again. I love the picture of your daughter knitting. I taught my 8 year old son how to knit too. The other night, a new babysitter was watching him. She called us around bedtime and said "Asher says that he is allowed to stay awake in his bed, knitting a scarf . . . is that right?" I had to laugh at my little creator, taking after his mom. :) Sounds like your kids have some of your talents too. :)
Posted by: Zoe | September 15, 2008 at 01:51 PM
PS I think that the sweater is very sexy on you too!! :)
Posted by: Zoe | September 15, 2008 at 01:51 PM
That's the good thing about knitting. You can always start from scratch with frogged yarn. You can't really do that with fabric after it's cut.
Are you itching for another knit night? I know I am.

I started (and worked on a couple of already started) knitting projects this weekend. With fall around the corner I love nothing more than knitting my heart away...now if I could just finish something!
