Now that it is Thursday already and I haven't done a thing other than the painting night, I realize that my craft to-do list was only a dream. And with the kids' soccer games this weekend, on both Saturday and Sunday, it looks like I won't be getting much done then either. Dang! There's nothing scheduled tonight and the house is fairly picked up, so maybe, just maybe I can do some work on that quilt.
Speaking of quilts, I'm still behind on my 12 square quilt squares (what's new?), which officially ended in September. I definitely need to move that one up on the priority list. Some squares have started rolling in from the PTQB, which is exciting. I love what those girls have come up with. I have a feeling that a certain 8 yr old will take this quilt over once it is made. It is right up her alley.
This really does deserve a post on its own, but that little Ava of mine is something! She acts all sweet, but underneath she's a little spitfire. All my kids have done some stupid stuff, but she seems to do it 10x's worse.
Just this week she dumped an entire bottle of fingernail polish in the sink - HOT pink. The nail polish was out of her reach, but she figured out a way to get to it. The entire sink is now HOT pink. I haven't taken the time to kill some brain cells cleaning that stuff off. On Monday afternoon she and Alex were innocently coloring on my bed, but then Ava decided to color ON my bed - the blanket, the sheets, and my coverlet, all of which I just washed on Saturday. It will wash out, but I'd like to have clean bedding for at least a few days. Is that too much to ask? While she was at it, she also colored all over the back of my bedroom door with a crayon.
I was hoping that was it, but then yesterday I noticed something funny about Oreo, our cat. Is his fur pink? Why yes, it was pink, and not just a little bit. What the??? SOMEBODY colored the cat. I asked the kids and they all denied it. Then I questioned Ava some more. I told her that she wouldn't be in trouble, I just wanted to know how she did it. She answered me "Oreo was sleeping on Alex's bed, so I colored him". ***this photo was from today, so he's had a few days to clean it off. his paw was the only thing we could keep still enough to photograph, taking a picture of a cat is really hard!
If she's quiet and you ask her what she's doing, she'll answer "anything, mama". Oh, how right she is! That girl, what in the world am I going to do with her???

oh, good grief, that girl!!! She keeps you on your toes. :)

okay, our girls could be twins. Just tonight she decide that a pear needed a bath in her yogurt and then she needed a yogurt bath herself. Ahhh! Check out this fun mess from a couple of weeks ago.

I have an idea... let's not introduce Ava to Rover.... they sound like a "nightmare" made in heaven! :)

I seem to remember a clogged toilet with Miss Ava's handiwork a while ago too.

Those kids are literally a mess! But they're cute, so I say keep 'em.

Glad she picked pink and not black:) Best wishes in the removal of the polish! Someday when her daughters are up to the same business you can tell her you completely understand her pain:)

Wow!!! I know what you are talking about dear. I just shake my head when things happen. I still have to take a DEEP breath before I go have a talk with the little people. Sometimes, it takes all you have just to move on. I am laughing with you though Beki! :)

I often "dream". I have very productive periods and then times when nothing happens. This week has been great with me finishing some outstanding projects and some WIP's. Does not happen often though...
I laughed when I read about your daughter's art! If I have not personally experienced this with my oldest son, I would have suggested you channel her artistic nature in various ways. But since my son has done similar stuff, despite having an area where he could paint, etc. I will not make such suggestions! Some kids just do this kind of thing. Your daughter seems to be the queen of mischief though! Wow, that basin is awful! Wonder how she got the cat to stay still whilst she was "painting" him? They normally outgrow this...although must tell you that my 18 year old recently drew pictures on his 14 year old brother's face while he was sleeping with a permanent marker! When he woke up the next day he could not get it all cleaned off for school!

I love when kitties get into a little trouble.

Oh my! I had a nail polish incident like that with my girls. I can laugh now, but at the time it was not fun.
On the bright side, your blocks are beauties!

My dear you need a small scrub brush! My grandma used to handle incidents like this with small chores, no matter how old you were. If you colored the walls, she would get out her little scrub brush and make you scrub the floor for 5 or 10 mins., not really cleaning anything just long enough to make you arm tired. After two or three rounds of this there were no more accidents with crayons, markers or nail polish:)

"Anything, Mama" That's hilarious! I second Tracy's advice. :)
As far as the fingernail polish in the sink goes, I suggest attempting to scrape as much off as possible. The less you have to inhale that stuff, the better.

Me too! But I must say the story of coloring the cat will be a good one for when they are older!

I sympathize with you completely. I have one of those mischief makers too. She once used a big blue marker all around her big sister's room, up and down, under things, everywhere! We cleaned it and sis never knew. Three years later we found more of that special art work. Mine is 10 now and still is up to mischief, usually involving my ribbons or fabric that she covets.
I can't say it will go away, it will change though. Must roll with it,try to look at it as creativity and hope for a great artist in the making. I'm telling myself this once again too!

Goodness - it sounds like you and the cat are both very patient!

Oh no--that nail polish incident should go right into the baby book! I really do hope we are doing a reprise of 12 Square!

Oh my. You really need eyes in the back of your head with that one, don't you?
I almost always have to laugh when they pull a stunt like that. Maybe not the most educational reaction, but I just can't help myself :-)

The hot pink nail polish beats a lot of the crazy stuff my kids did ;o)
Look at it this way, she's resourceful ;o)
