Well, friends, I've decided that this is going to be a crafty week. Last week I proved to myself that I can keep the house in order if I do a little bit each day, so this week I'm adding some craft time to the mix (good idea in theory). This will involve putting my knitting down (my usual week night craft), but I'm at a boring point on this particular knit, so I could use the break (so what if I just took a break to make a skirt!).
The Craft Hope deadline is quickly approaching, so I need to get busy on that. I made the quilt top this weekend, so now it needs to be quilted and bound. I like how this one is coming together, even though I'm not using my favorite fabrics - that's always a pleasant surprise. Because I want this finished in time, I'm going with a simple solid back. This is my #1 priority this week.
Tomorrow night I have another painting event at Corks-n-Canvas. This time I plan to go out on my own a little. Maybe. We'll see how brave I am once I have a glass of wine or two. I'm not super in love with the scheduled painting, but I'm looking forward to hanging out with the girls for a few hours. Even if I do stick to the plan, I figure the painting will look cute in the girls room with all that purple.
I still have my bloomers skirt on the brain and would love another one. I have my fabric and stencil picked out for my second version (bluish purple & aqua), but I'd like to try something different first. I'm not exactly sure yet what I want to do, but it will involve heather gray jersey.
For some reason, I have way more cotton jersey in my stash than I remembered (not all that pictured above is cotton jersey, but there is a good bit of it). I may end up with a plain solid skirt, but that's okay. It will still be fun having an unexpected colorful under layer. The comfort of my first version makes me want to make more.
If that isn't enough, I have a back cardigan that needs refashioning and I'm also thinking that I need a new bag...
Okay, reading back over this, I realize that this is only a wish list. I know the painting will get done because that's a scheduled set thing. If I get that quilt finished and in the mail next Monday, I'll call it a success. My reality is that I'll be doing good to keep up with the house and get the laundry done! It's much more fun to dream and plan, isn't it?

that looks like lots of fun! I can never find cotton jersey that I like. Maybe I need to look harder.

Sounds so much like my life, and yes, I do believe that it is the planning and dreaming that is the fun part, but there is a certain satisfaction with seeing finished projects all lined up. Real life kicking in, baby is awake and crying!! Ahhh, to dream

I think that quilt is going to be a real winner! Can't wait to see it finished!

heh.. I find a glass or two of wine makes me a bit more brave than I should be. And maybe that's just what I need to start my chanin skirt! Where's that bottle I just unpacked...

The quilt for crafthope is going to be lovely. Nice colours! And as for the rest, I'd say: Just go with the flow and enjoy what you can!

A creative week sounds perfect. Since creative weekends haven't been working for me I've taken to small crafts a little bit in the evening--hexagons(!!!) and more knitting. I can't wait to see what you make up!

It is sooo much fun to plan. I always have bigger plans than I can actually get done, but it makes you feel more creative!

I love the top of your quilt for MHC. It's very exciting to see so many different people contributing to this project. Margaret was my grandmother too & Carin is my sister. Carin has always been looking for help with the quilting as she and my mom have done the majority of it and it's amazing to see her wishes and prayers answered! Thanks for contributing to this project! I know my Grandma would be humbled by a response to a charity in her name and my Grandpa has been extremely thankful for the press and response this has received lately in the city (Grand Rapids) where he and my parents live.

Dreaming is way more fun! but having it down helps make some of it a reality :)

There's nothing wrong with having a to-do list AND not getting everything done on it!! I find that rather than stressing me out - as in look how MUCH I have to do - it actually relieves the stress IF it is written down so I can get it out of my mind, cross things off as they get done (that feels so good) and say oh-well about what is left undone. That is something to look forward to completing next week, or the week after, or the week after. ;)

I love how your fabric stash has so many fall colors in it! Have fun finishing a few projects and starting a few new ones!

Oh, I know this... there´s allways so much one wants to do, so many patterns to try, this and that one wants to make. But like Megan wrote: thats the fun part, isn´t it :) we wouldn´t do, what we do, without the dreamy part in it, wouldn´t we?
I like the quilts top too, btw. Please show it, when it´s finished. Since I never tried real quilting by myself, I´m really looking forward, how it will look like at the end!
Wishing you a great week, Mone
p.s. there still is a cute bag you sewed for me more than a year ago and still people ask me, where I did get it :)

I think the scheduled painting looks really cool. The Corks and Canvas is a really cool concept, maybe it will catch on in more places (Wisconsin anyone?). Looking forward to seeing your version later this week. Have fun!

I usually dream all week about the sewing I'm going to do on the weekend, and then when the weekend comes I'm too tired for big projects. This weekend I told myself I wouldn't sew until all of the laundry was folded and put away and some cleaning had been done (and there are only two of us) - it was 10 pm Sunday before the laundry was done. I really need to figure out how to break up all of these tasks plus sewing projects into little chunks!
