day 11 :: Happy Mother's Day

April was a good month. Busy, but good. Tomorrow starts a brand new month, my favorite month of all. As busy as April was, May will be a whirlwind. May is a big month in our family. All three of us girls have birthdays - Ava on the 1st (sniff, sniff - where's my May Day baby going?), me on the 14th (ugh), and Lily on the 24th (big 7 going on 17). Along with that is Mother's Day, about 57 other family member birthdays (not really, but close), plus all of the end of school year activities, a dance recital, and Memorial Day. On one hand I'm excited, but on the other I'm kind of scared. I know that these next 4+ weeks weeks are going to fly by!
I've decided to challenge myself this next month. Instead of going on a blog break, I'm going to post pictures with just a few words, if any at all. This will be hard for me because I'm such a blabber mouth - especially with all that fun stuff going on. At first I was going to do pictures only, but come on, I can't do that! So I'll try to be quiet and express all that is going on around me through my photos. This should be interesting - a challenge, indeed!

This weekend turned out to be way more busy that I thought it would be. I can't say I'm too fond of weekends like that. I really am more of a homebody than I'd like to admit. Anyway, we had lots of fun, I saw lots of pretty things, and I got lots of accomplished around the house. I'd love to share it all right now, but I don't have any good photos thanks to the gray, rainy weather we're having. I promise, I'll share it all through out the week. I'll give you hint - it involves my kitchen. Until then, I'm going to try to unwind and go to bed early. I need to catch up from my marthon sewing session last night. I don't know why I do that to myself!
Yes, I do believe it is. Today wasn't a terribly stressful day or anything, but I had a sinus headache from hell that put a damper on the whole day. Thankfully, the kids were in good spirits and happy to eat sandwiches for supper, followed by oreos for dessert (I know, I know, not the most nutritious). Now that baths are done and things are settled for the night, I'm going to indulge with Martha and my favorite glass of red. Ah, the color issue - I can't wait!
It was one of those weekends where you blink and it's gone. It was full of so much goodness I don't even know where to begin.
First, there was Matt's birthday on Saturday (Happy 38th!!), then there was the fiesta that night, followed by dancing pictures (Lily) the next day and the last soccer game of the season. There was also a family dinner on Friday night and some girl shopping on Saturday. Oh yeah, we also planted a tiny garden. Cakes were baked, much food was eaten, beer and mojotis were consumed, and good times were had by all. Whew, I'm tired! Things might be a little quiet this week - I'm trying to recuperate!!
By the way, I only wore the hat for that photo!!
Not a fun topic, but it happens to the best of us (does anyone watch Real Housewives of NYC? even the Countess' kids caught lice). A few years ago Lily brought home lice twice within a few months. What a pain to deal with that was! I even found the creepy crawlies on myself. The worst part of the deal was that I was pregnant. Needless to say, my options were limited as most of that lice stuff is pretty toxic. I think I found some products online, but who wants to wait to get that stuff? When you have lice, you want to get rid of it NOW!! I ended up using the bad stuff, praying that my baby wouldn't be born with an extra arm or something. Thankfully, she came out fine :)
When I got an email from the folks at Mom Central about trying the new pesticide free lice treatment, LiceMD, I jumped at the chance. I have my fingers crossed that I won't have to use it, but I have a school age daughter with really long hair - chances are my dealings with lice won't be over any time soon! I feel better using a product that seems to be safer than the alternative. And the best part is that it's available now, at your local drugstore.
Yep, I'm a lucky girl! Sorry I've been absent, but the time change last week kicked my butt. The longer days meant that I stayed up too late, then could hardly wake up in the morning. I felt like a zombie all week. Lucky for me, I was able to catch up on my sleep this weekend.
The weekend was wonderful. We had glorious weather and did a whole lot of nothing. We played in the yard, I cooked some good meals, and I fit in some crafting time (more on that later in the week). I even managed to do a little shop update of pleated wristlets (I told you those were next). I wish every weekend could be like this...
Hopefully the luck I found this weekend will last me through the week. Happy Monday and Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!
How can such a little person be so messy? Yes, I'm talking about Ava. She's in the 'tornado' phase, as in she's a little whirlwind of activity. all. the. time.
These are the tame ones. I didn't get a picture of her pouring out half a bottle of syrup on the counter last night (mixed with a spilled cup of soy milk). Oh yeah, she's a climber, which means she gets into LOTS.
*Sigh*
