I love this pattern. I love this yarn. I love that I was able to convert the pattern to use sock yarn. I love that it fits and feels so soft. BUT, I don't love it on me. There's just too much billowiness under the "shelf", which makes me feel uncomfortable wearing it. Gah, don't you hate when that happens? I should have known better (um, just compare the pattern model's chest to mine) . This style is not flattering to my body type. It's as simple as that.
Besides knitting this in a different weight yarn, there wasn't much I changed. After knitting the body I decided to pick up the stitches along the neckline to add some additional rows because the neck was a little too wide for my liking. After some fiddling, it worked like a charm and created the fit I was looking for. The only other thing I did differently was to add 3 buttons instead of two. Finding buttons for this was harder than I thought. I'm happy I bought a few choices because after wearing the sweater with choice #1, I ripped them off and went with the current buttons. My first choice was too heavy, making the sweater pull. I probably should have re-blocked the sweater before taking these pictures, oh well.
As disappointed as I am, I am not discouraged. This sweater will be worn and the pattern will be knit again. Next time, I plan to add some shaping to the body and add buttons along the entire button band. That's an easy enough modification to make...so easy that I might just make it on this one...in a little while. I have two more projects on the needles right now :-)
