Right before putting the kids to bed, I got an overwhelming desire to paint. So, I did. I went up to my studio, found a small canvas and got to work. Working with a small canvas is so much less intimidating than something on a larger scale, especially when you're a big chicken when it comes to this sort of thing. I never did tell you about my art challenge of the year, did I? My plan was to work on one small canvas a week, to get myself comfortable with painting and allow some exploration. The more I thought about it, 1 per week was a bit much considering my schedule, so I told myself 1 per month would do. Needless to say, nothing ever happened (mostly because I'm a big chicken!). This is why I had a small canvas on hand.
Anyway, with the Housewives on in the background, I jumped right in. I started with a sketch, then some painting, some oil pastels, some pencil, and then layer after layer went on. At one point I was happy with the look, but then I wasn't - it was too much and not enough at the same time. I decided then best thing to do was to cover the entire thing with another layer of paint and start over. And that's exactly where I am right now. Those hours flew by! And now I'm up way too late, yet again. I can hardly wait until I get the chance to escape to my studio again, thank goodness the weekend is upon us!!
