Finally, that second giveaway I teased last week - A Designed by You Special Occasion Fashions Activity Kit for two lucky readers!!!  (sorry, open to US residents only)

When I was contacted to participate in this giveaway, I jumped at the chance!  Really, how fun is this??  A fashion kit including a mannequin, fabrics, trims, glitter glues, sewing supplies, sketch pad - everything a budding fashion designer would need.  As soon as our package arrived I we tore into it.

We immediately started draping fabrics on the mannequin, but had to take a few steps back - draping isn't exactly our gift.  After reviewing the directions, we decided to start out with embellishing the sample dress.  I love that there is that option.

the everyday

Once upon a time, I used to blog about my everyday.  I kind of miss that.  Going back through my archives, it's the everyday posts that mean the most to me, not the big project reveals.  And these days, the everyday happens a whole lot more than the big reveals!

 
Lucky me, I had a few quiet moments this morning before my doctor appointment.  I could have folded some laundry (always), but I chose to spend that little snippet of time getting started on some quilt blocks.  I hadn't touched a sewing machine since Seattle.  It felt good.  I hope to spend some more time with miss kitty this weekend, but with Lily playing  in a soccer tournament, I'm not sure.

 
Have you seen the lovelies my friend has been scoring lately?  She inspired me to get out to check my usual thrifting haunts, but I didn't have near her luck.  I managed to find a sheet, a tablecloth made from a sheet and two sets of pillowcases.  Not bad, but I was hoping for more.  At least color was on my side.

 
In case you were wondering about my little pixie, not much has changed except now she talks a mile a minute.  She's still up to her old tricks, though thankfully she hasn't cut her hair for a few weeks now.  We finally got it out of her that she was cutting her hair to cut her curls off.  That girl!  Since this revelation, I haven't been blowing my own hair straight as much.  She loves when we both have curly hair.  We make a big deal over it.

 
As soon as I took that picture of her she disappeared....then I found this - it seems she's turned her scissor happy impulses on to my patio plants.  Now I know who to ask to help me cut my plants back :)

book giveaway :: witch craft

Are you ready for Halloween?  I have a fun little book to give away, Witch Craft.  I received it last week and really wanted to make some if the projects before blogging about it, but with my current state of itchiness and medicine induced stupor, that didn't happen.  I can say that I've looked through it many times, as have my kids.  Seriously, they keep fighting over it.

This book has a whole range of projects, from food and easy projects, to the more involved.  My kids have already marked a few that they'd like to make.  Lily is especially interested in the cross-stitch earrings.

more crocheting

Okay, so I got the grannies down... then I learned how to make a flower (thanks, Eva!).  My goodness, why did I have to learn to make a flower?  Now all I want to do is make flowers with tiny crochet hooks and skinny crochet thread.

Please don't ask me for directions because I'm pretty sure I've made each one differently.  Plus, I'm a crochet novice and would probably tell you the wrong thing.

I *love* making flowers.  Thankfully, this crochet thread is relatively cheap, so this isn't an expensive new hobby (been there, done that!).  I don't know exactly what I'll do with them, but right now I'm thinking some of my boring cardigans could use some jazzing up. Anyone know of an easy crochet edging?

Sorry to be light on the posting lately, but I'm having a bit of withdrawal post-dottie angel.  Oh, and I spoke entirely too soon about those stupid hives - I spent the weekend doped up on benadryl and now I'm on steroids.   I guess they weren't caused by my nerves after all, *sigh*.  Please stay tuned this week because I have a few giveaways lined up...once I get my act together and come out of this itchy fog!!
