Inspired by the Dec. 4th prompt at write alm.
Other than Saturdays, I am the first one up (Ava takes that honor). Though I set my alarm every night, it’s rarely necessary. I usually wake up right before it goes off. This time is all my own. It’s nice being able to take care of myself before I wake my family and the busy-ness starts for the day.
Our mornings are early, very early. So far, I am the only morning person in the house. While they’re all grouchy and reluctant to get out of bed I’m singing silly songs and dancing goofy dances in an attempt to put them in a better mood. If I can make them giggle when they open their eyes, then I know it will be a good morning. That isn’t always the case, but I still try.
Recently I’ve been entertaining the idea of expanding this time. As of now, there is no extra, only time enough for me to get dressed and make the coffee. Long gone are the days of staying up late to work on creative projects, which leads me think it’s time to carve out some space in the morning. I’ll have to start slowly at first, perhaps only a half hour...a half hour to let my mind wander or focus on creative interests. It seems simple enough, certainly something I can try out. This may be exactly what has been missing from my day...the perfect addition to my morning routine :)

I wrote this post on Dec.4, but was too wiped out to post it on the proper day. I chose to go to bed early to wake up early instead. It was great! The only problem is that a half hour isn’t nearly enough. I ended up falling behind that mornng because I was too caught up in my "me" time. I'll figure it out eventually, I hope!!
