I'm sure by now you've come across this Anthropologie heart pillow. I think it's pretty awesome, but it's also pretty darned expensive and very neutral. If you know me, you know that I like color, so I had to come up with my own version...a colorful version!
I cut out a bunch of hearts in various polka dot prints, then I pinned them onto a piece of fabric. Boy, do I ever have lots of dots!
Next, I sewed them on with black thread. Like the original, the black gives it a nice outline. It seems like this would take forever, but it really didn't. I wasn't too neat. I sewed on a heart, then moved on to the next one. Sometimes I didn't even cut the thread.
Too bad you don't see the back because I think it looks pretty cool.
Finally, I turned it into a pillow! I used jumbo ric-rack to trim the pillow because everything is happier with ric-rack, right? A certain two-year old quickly claimed it as her own.
She said the pillow made her happy. Hearing that made me happy. Happy hearts, indeed!!
